Ehehe, yes.
The prompt was to write a story with the title “Lovely cover, lousy book”. The point was to write a story about how you shouldn’t judge someone by their appearance, but rather judge them by how they act. Their personality, not their looks.
So I wrote about Jared Morrison (yeahhh Morrison wtf) who weren’t all that sure about his sexuality and preferences, and then there was a new guy at school who were arrogant, anti-social, he had piercing in his eyebrow and tattoos from his wrist and all the way to his neck and Jared immediately thought of him as an asshole (mostly because of his arrogance and stuff, but yeah). That was Jensen. Or, in this story, his name is Jason Brady. (Though I made them call each other Jay and Jen, so :3)
Annnd, then Jared really can’t stand Jensen and a few months pass and Jared comes to terms with his sexuality that he’s been thinking about a lot that year, because he’s had a lot of girlfriends but the only big crush he’s ever had was on this dude named Richard. And so he wants to come out, so he asks his best buddy (who’s gay) Chris out for Prom. And Chris is like “took you long enough but ask your crush and not me” and Jared’s really confused.
And so Chris explains that he hasn’t been hiding his crush on Jason very well and Jared’s like dude no but then he realizes that maybe he has grown quite fond of the guy after the last six months, but Jason has already a date, a girl nonetheless.
And then at prom this popular kid who’s of course homophobe, to add the tension y’kno, he comes over and he’s like “I hear rumors about you being a fag” and Jason stands up for Jared and they end up squeezing this popular kid out and people starts cheering and then Jason pulls Jared along to go to this new pizza place in town it’s awesome EDIT: Omg squeezing the popular kid out sounds bad and really mean but what I meant was that the popular kid, he walked out because he saw that he wasn’t going to win and he could see that he wasn’t supported when it came to his bullying and name calling.
and then in the end of the fic Jared tells Jason that he thought he was an asshole at first (this is like, five months later) and Jensen’s like “y’know, my shyness ruins a lot for me, you try to stay in the background and stuff but when you DO talk to people you try to be cool but you try too hard so you come off as arrogant” and Jason explains that he’s never been a ‘bad boy’, he’s not a bully. In fact it’s the opposite - he’s the victim of bullying. Because when he was a kid he stammered a lot, he’s got dyslexia and he’s gay.
And that’s the story. The tattooed, ‘bad boy’ might seem tough and arrogant and all that, but he’s in fact a really sweet and non-judgmental guy, while the rich, popular kid is a total dickhead.
